Friday, tomorrow we pick up the frame from powdercoating.

This time I am trying a different approach to installing the engine into the frame. Usaully in the past I have just bribed a gullable freind into blowing out a disk, lifting the motor horizontal like, and slipping it into the frame. After much hefting, and of course the scratching of the new frame paint.

This time the motor is mounted vertically on a dirt bike stand, then lower the frame over the engine, and bolt it up.

The horizontal engine installation worked perfectly, no scratches.

I found a picture of the stock KZ frame on line, for comparison.

Swingarm work this weekend..

Need to move right side shock mount .375"..

Then remove all the extra bracketing, and sand it smooth, so the aluminum can then be polished to a mirror finish.

Getting sooo close.. a long weekend would have it running. Yeaaaahhhyy the little honda 90 from hell is fixed. No more spaghetti farm house wiring. (no insult meant Alberto)

Have you ever ridden one? 43 mph seems like a 'Buck Fifty". The littel fella gets all kinda twitchy at it's blurry top speed of 43. :o

Ordered a new wiring harness from Z-1 enterprises.

Moe Money .......

Oh well.

Thanks for the compliments, a guy can get burned out on a project like this!!!

cobra23

Ohh Ahhh, Wiring harness all the way from Japan via Z-1 Enterprises...

Oh no Honda 90 flashbacks........

I'm a Doctor Jim !! not a brain surgeon..so many nerves, all those colors.....

Nothing a shot of Scotch won't fix. :P

cobra23

Ahh the wiring harness..

Looks so cool I had to photograph it...ir engineer..

wierd things amuse us..

This was purchased from Z-1 Enterprises, a great place to find anything vintage. The prices are not low ball, but their stuff is always super good quality.

In an effort to reduce weight, a guy by the name of Taber, who rides the Baja 1000, suggested using a dirtbike rear brake.

The rear rotor has been machined down to the thickness and diameter of the CR450R, to fit the Caliper from the CR(F?) 450, you know the bikes in Supercross.

The stuff looks like jewelry. Weighs about 1/3 what a typical streetbike rear brake weighs.
