The SBK battery is designed for: Stock engines 600 cc twins to 1000cc with stock stators and compression as well as Triumph 675. The SBK 4.6 Ah battery is also recommended for modified engines under 750cc as well.

besides it being a bit lighter than normal, is there any reason for the $250 price tag? anything special? will it make my bike into a Transformer?

I have one in my RC51.
It cranks like normal, requires no battery tender for storage and sheds ~5lbs
When you look at it from a lb/$ perspective, it's a pretty good deal.

I bought it here - good guys:

If you look at it from a lb/$ perspective it is unbelievably amazing.

Five lbs translates into multiple thousands.
Forged aluminum Marchesini (Wheels) is about 4lbs lighter but may cost $2200.

(of course rotational weight yields very significant results)
