Title: Geiger photographer
Post by: RichVee4 on April 05, 2016, 09:01:55 PM
Went on a lunch ride Sunday to VC and was surprised to see a photographer on Geiger taking pictures of bikes/cars going by.  He was positioned a couple corners down from the lookout about 1/3 of the way up the grade.  Same corner where flamecrow received his performance award.   Anyone see this guy before?  Felt like I was in LA on Mulholland Dr.

Haven't seen him.

How about this.  If any of you want your picture taken of you cornering your bike, I'll be happy to snap some off and give them to you for free.  I won't even put a watermark over the picture.  You can have as many as you want, full resolution.   :angel

Just show up for a group ride and ask.

Let's hope this guy is just out to hone his skills or to make a buck and that this isn't the start of VC turning into the circus that is Mulholland. Although, with all the crashes and this sort of thing it seems to be well on it's way.

I don't know why more photographers do this, Rick Clemson who is a figure on the South Grade at Palomar has made a killing taking pictures of everyone.  It's sorted by date, then you can view the thumbnails with his copyright stamp on the pictures, then if you like it you have the option of purchasing the jpeg.

LOL, might as well...  How did you get his website, did you stop to talk to him? :P

The guy was parked in the corner and had a sign on top of his car, added to the distraction of the whole thing.   Wasnt the easiest to read as you went through the corner so doubt many people found his site.  Maybe at a cruiser pace it would have been easier..

So what you're saying is, he might as well put a bulls-eye on his parked vehicle?   ;D

So that's why he was there. That's a relief.. I was expecting a ticket in the mail when I saw him on the truck route. He named the picture group Geiger Grade.

Looking at some of his older shots, this is one of his more creative pics.   I'm not a fan of increasing the circus atmosphere on Geiger more than it is already so understand him trying to make a buck, but am not a customer.

Would have been better is if he turned the camera angle up a bit and captured the ISS as it went over.

The pictures are so blah.  Here's what I'd like to do if we ever run across the dude spending his day up there.  Our pact will be for me to pull over where he's parked and I'll snap off pictures of you guys riding by.  Keep making passes, like 10 or so or until I run out of digital memory. :evil1  While I'm waiting for you guys to make your runs, I'll explain what a great idea he had to snap pictures.  We saw him doing it, so we thought we'd do our own.  Then I'd go about snapping off about 100 pictures from about the same exact angle he was at just to show how much revenue he missed out on with his great idea.
:sorry
