With street riding season mostly over and with fewer opportunities to see ride pictures, it would be great to see some Fall and Winter colors adorn the SSA site. We're looking for pics related to the season and if possible, with a motorcycle in it.
I'm usually about a month behind when adding SSA header pics, so post today and in quantity! :doggy Those that have the most appeal will be added to the SSA front page. :thumbup
Thanks. And good luck! :thanks
I went out to moonrocks with my best friend Dunnell, he drove down from Washington...
The photo shows how the typical visit goes... we are both retired Infantry, some things never change.
Here are some from our ride yesterday.

Looking good! Here's a couple I took. The backdrop at Genoa was perfect.
Wow you have a good eye, those look like magazine photos.
Very nice boys!
Good shots.
Should be an interesting thread as time continues on..............
The yellow bike with the yellow background from the trees is a front cover magazine shot in my opinion. Great stuff.
Cobra, I'll keep yours for a later header change. But don't worry, it's going up too. :D
;D
It's getting close to the time for more picture content and Mother Nature hasn't disappointed. Looking for more. Something Thanksgiving-ish, outdoors, and with your bike or riding gear or...etc...
I had to park my bike outside tonight because the pathway from my garage out of the apartment complex is still covered with snow and slush which has already begun to freeze.
One frozen bike this morning.

Didn't even occur for me to put the bike cover on, but the bike started up like a champ. More photos to come this weekend, hitting the slopes.
Very interesting hand warmers! You're making the rest of us look like sissies. :D
That is one frosted bike, wouldnt want to sit on that seat! Shopping for a car yet?

Actually I did the most prudent thing, bought a new bike!

Took a little side excursion today and snapped a couple winter pics... Definitely starting to feel like winter out there.

When did you get that KLR? Did I miss the thread about it?
Just picked it up this weekend, didn't post anything about it. Nothing too special, it's no new Ducati, pretty much the total opposite in every category but for some reason it's still a blast to run around town on. So much easier to navigate in town than the GSXR, with the added benefit of being able to jump curbs and hit dirt roads...
Traded my dirt bike for it, been wanting to get one for a while to do some riding/camping trips... And was planning on getting rid of my dirt bike anyway to get a 2-stroke, so that'll be next.
Sweet. Got KLR, got rid of crappy dirt bike, better dirt bike coming? It's a win-win-win.

got rid of crappy dirt bike
That was the main idea behind it.
Luckily found someone familiar with and didn't mind the starting hassle of the YZ426. He actually started it first kick when he came to look at it, I was surprised.
Had my eye on a couple KTM 300's all 07 or older but I may hold off for an 08+ with that magic little button. Although coming off the YZ426 kick starting anything else would probably be a walk in the park.
I can't catch a break on this weather, snowing again!

Don't forget the cover this time. That frozen FZ didn't look pleasant to have to sit on.
It's in the garage, but now I won't be able to get it out, as it's pretty much an ice rink and it probably won't melt off for about 2-3 days, as my side never gets any sunshine.
Wait so the YZ is gone and you picked up a KLR already?? Totally missed your post, Monica mentioned it on our walk tonight. While congrats on the new bike, let the adventures begin. With the KLR you will be more my pace so lets plan a ride this weekend. GM's got to be healed up by now and maybe he can join us.

Yeah, did a bit of a trade so one out and the other in all in one fell swoop.
A ride this weekend sounds good. This thing will definitely slow me down. It's actually doesn't feel as heavy as I was expecting but it is pathetically slow and under powered.
Weather looks good all weekend, I'd be good either day whatever works better for you.
Maybe we should start a separate post in the dirt section or just hit up GM directly.
Congrats SL. :o Somehow missed that upper section of this thread myself. Feel blindsided by the news, but whatever makes you happy. Maybe now I can keep up. Not anytime soon though for dirt. I'm still thinking it'll be several more months before I even attempt that stuff. Baby steps. Street. Get back into feeling strong, then dirt.
I'll miss riding with you guys. Always good times.
The snow was piling up on my shield so bad I couldn't see out of my helmet. My shield ended up looking just like my windscreen.

So which bike are you riding today? :o
What happened to your pics VR? I was going to use some of them for the SSA header.
Looking for more from everyone. Theme is pictures of the moment, so wintery. Any recent pics from T-hill or from the track? I have five already, but if I have more I can do more with them.
:picspics
Here's a couple pictures of SL and my ride over Jumbo grade to VC and beyond we did two weeks ago. The old cars on the south side of VC were cool to look at. The sign behind the old Model A said "No long term parking". I was shocked it still had the original headlight lens intact.
Fun area to explore.
Thank you.
:thanks

Been having some problems with photobucket. It was out of focus anyways. I'll see if I can repost the pic.
Well it was a white knuckle ride to work this morning. I had no idea that it snowed last night, and was surprised as hell when I opened up the garage door at 5:30 in the morning to go to work. Certain areas of the surface street was bone dry but there were other areas where it was a blanket of snow and ice, couldn't believe the difference.
Now that you have 2 bikes, you should put studded tires on the Yamaha.

Actually, it would be nice to pick up a used Enduro for around a grand and get it studded.

Nice pics, the one with the dark clouds is pretty cool.
Good to see someone's getting out. I've been itching to ride, finally catching up with work and have some time, gonna have to find somewhere to putt around.
Wow man what a couple of die hard s. I guess riding in the dirt in snow is pretty cool.
Took the bike out yesterday evening for an impromptu. Quite nice, even after dark and with the high winds. The wind actually made it feel warmer. Roads were dry. Probably surprised a lot of motorists seeing a MC out at this time of year, well except that Vr is always out no matter the weather.
Wilson Canyon yesterday.

Nice pics. Surprised how snow free and dry the dirt looks there. Bikes are even clean! Where is Wilson Canyon? I've been considering going out but would like to avoid having it be all snow and mud.
No snow is why we went there.
Wilson Canyon is just East of Smith Valley on hwy 208. From Reno it's easiest to go out 80, then south on 95 from Fernley. It's a bit of a drive from Reno, but totally worth it. Definitely one of my favorite spots. There are some really fun trails. We did about 37 miles, and we didn't even do the loop up into the Pine Grove mountains, because there was snow up there.
:clap
Thanks Dub. Those will be going up on the header soon.
Picked up this orange thing today, goes well with my truck ;D, couldn't resist stopping to take it for a spin in the dirt/snow on the way home...

Nice!

Nice to have another rider on team orange! Is that a 250? 300?
300. I'm too fat, needed those extra cc's.
Nice to have a proper trail bike though, climbs so much better than the yz i had prior to this bike.

Weather has been great the last week or two. Supposed to transition to a more stormy pattern again next week. Spring hasn't quite sprung just yet.
