Broken Frame, Happy Ending

Just a couple miles into our Sunday ride, we stop to regroup and my buddy says "hey, did you know your frame is cracked?". I look down and sure enough, he wasn't lying. I just kept riding and it just kept getting worse. About 2/3 of the way through the ride it had broken all the way through.

I did the rest of 40 mile trail ride sitting down, not putting any of my body weight on the right footpeg.

Motor out and ready for welding.

Better photo of the break in the garage.

Dropped it off at the shop and two days later, better than new.

The swingarm pivot bolt is also the rear motor mount. I figured since the swingarm was already basically off, I would unbolt all the rear shock linkage to clean and grease the needle bearings. It had never been done under my ownership.

A few hours later it's all back together and ready for this Sunday's ride.

Out on the trail like it never happened.

Nice work.  The Honda lives to see another day!

I'd complain to the previous owner.
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.
