I know you're trying to describe how it feels and not confuse the man, but the engineer in me can't let this slide. While it might seem that way, the power curve is not changed one bit by gearing. How it feels is changed by effective torque multiplication to the rear wheel.

A more basic way of saying it would be that changing the final drive (chain and sprockets) gearing changes the RPM of the engine for a given speed in a given gear.

Yes I was trying to keep it simple. Some people try to say that by changing the gearing it changes the power of the bike, and it doesn't. Thats what I was trying to point out. Not everybody on here can speak engineer.
