Title: RFR Track days and test/tune
Post by: jlavallee on October 17, 2008, 03:58:41 PM
Guys, I've been out of the country most of the summer and just bought a house so I've not done any riding this year other than 1 test/tune day in July. Now that I am home a little more I was wondering if anyone was doing the track days this weekend or test and tune days on the following weekends? It's always more fun if there are others to hang out with.

Anybody attending anything? I finally got the R6 painted and I'm itching to get it out.

Didn't know Cascade Tracktime was there this weekend...but looking at it...a little spendy :(

Anyone done a trackday with these guys?

I haven't but I called and the guy said only 30 people are signed up. I was thinking of doing a test and tune afternoon next weekend unless someone is going to Cascade. To be honest, afternoon 1-5:30 for tnt is about all I want to ride without being too beat and it's only $110 per afternoon.

Post by: n10sive on October 17, 2008, 09:57:03 PM
so he wants $179 for the day, or $110 for the afternoon eh? hmmmm
can't do saturday...and if I get some work done tonight I 'might' be able to swing sunday afternoon....
Title: Re: RFR Track days and test/tune
Post by: jlavallee on October 17, 2008, 10:02:09 PM
No, sorry if I wasn't clear but $110 is the afternoon price for the test and tune dates the next few weekends after this one.

Cascade is $179 but I was told because of how few people they have that they're going to run open session so you can ride all you want.

ah. Thanks for clarifying. Open sessions all day? That will be interesting.....

Oh.. btw, how's the DX??
Title: Re: RFR Track days and test/tune
Post by: jlavallee on October 17, 2008, 10:52:44 PM
I was thinking next Saturday. Sundays always suck for me but if you're doing Sunday then I'd probably change my plans. I'll look at the weather too.

The DX is good but I've not gotten any miles on any of the bikes this year because of work travel and buying a house. Hell, I am now too broke to afford gas. ::)

How is your DX? How many miles have you got in now?

I suppose you cant do Mondays either?? If not, next Sunday should be good.. will give you a definite answer by tomorrow..
Same here.. the DX is good but only got 1000 miles on her ::)... I know... too many projects and Jerome got me addicted on these trackdays ;D ;D

Usually I am lucky to have my Saturday's off as a 60hr week is normal unfortunately. I can check on Monday but it's doubtful.

I believe I have 2600 on my DX so don't feel bad. 2300 of that was last year.

Cascade was cool, we ran the C config but backwards and yes it was just open track all day execpt for a 1 hour lunch. It was a good time. I liked running it backwards its just got some blind corners you have to get used to.

It looks like I will have to head out of town now on Monday the 27th so that screws that track day.  >:(

Any chance anyone here can make Sat the 25th? The weather looks like it'll be perfect and hey $110 to play on track all afternoon...

There was one Porsche and two bikes there including me. Great weather and all the track time you could handle. Why more folks don't take part in these is beyond me.

There is a gal named Denise who is usually there during T&T that is an EMT but she's not always there. Her husband/boyfriend runs a BMW car so if he's there she is for sure but either way you've got the FD just down the road and there is an emergency clinic in Fernley so it's still much better than doing it on the road. God forbid you have a serious accident, someone will know right away and have an ambulance there pretty quick. On the road, besides it being much more likely to get hurt if you fall, it's surely going to take longer for response.

I think Alberto and D1NO are out at RFR today but I have to head to Elko for work.  >:(

Have fun guys!

Great day.. Great weather!!! Thanks again Alberto for keeping me company and showing me some new tricks  ;D
Jason, wish you would have made it. Thanks Danny for keeping a watchful eye on us. The only thing, its kind of freaky being the only ones at the track... or is it just me  ::)

Had a great day, Dino you are rolling out there :o :o Thanks Ania for buying me lunch, you are funny girl :D It was great fun an I had to work hard just to stay with Dino. We ran the "C" config. backwards a few laps....that was funky.

I was there on Sunday, come to think of it, about the same time as the meeting, sorry Alberto. Danny called and said there was only two bikes and one car there. I could not resist.

About 3PM, the car left, so two of us had the whole track. I think the test and tune days are good, but I have little track time to compare it too, you just want to make sure you do not ride over your head. The Fire dept is only about five minutes away, and Danny is real safety concious. He watches, cruises aroound the perimeter on the Mule.

So from 1:00 pm to 5 pm, we put 110 miles on the bikes all on the track, perfect weather, perfect day. Danny said this time of year it is always slow, good time to ambush the track with just SSA riders.

Wish I could of made it to play with you guys but I had to go on the road again.

Maybe we could get a few of us together to play some upcoming weekend. I think $100 T&T days will probably start soon and it's always more fun with a few people to ride with.

I am dying with a sinus infection at the moment but hopefully it'd be cleared up by next weekend so if it is and the weather is good I could easily be talked into doing the 6th. ;D
