I signed up for the 1on1 Doug Polen class at yesterday's trackday. because there were only two students I more or less had a private lesson. It was great, i learned to be much more smooth, and changed my lines which were way off. He uses a radio while you are riding which really works. Less classroom, more riding. He's an excellent instructor, and hey, one on one with a WSBK world champ. what can you say? I cut 15 seconds off my laptimes (3:35's to 3:20's). He said he wants to come back to RFR. highly recommended.
dude, i actually noticed the improvements to your riding session by session. leaps and bounds, no less. good on ya, man!
Glad to hear you took advantage of that. Thanks for the report and congrats on your improvements. You will continue to improve from those lessons as time goes on too! Hopefully you took notes! :)
Dude, You know your big time when the SSA is on Doug Polen's website schedule. We made it.
NIIICCCCEEE!!! Thanks for the report and congrats...
Thanks for posting and participating in Doug's School. WOW!!!! I'm so impressed he made it to our track day. I think I'll have to make on of his schools. I think it's a real bargain.
Sometimes I think I should have taken up golf. I used to think golfing was expensive. Nothing close to the rush I get when riding my bike.
Yep, you don't s**t your pants when you miss a birdie :D

LOL!!!!!
I did not ride the track day. The thought of crashing the Ducati the weekend before I finally get a track bike was horrifying.
I am really interested in the Doug Polen school. I talked with them at Laguna a couple years ago at their booth and asked them to give RFR a shot, now I feel bad cause i did not participate.
It seems like it would be hard to focus with a radio in your ear, did you find it distracting at all?
I saw him sitting there at lunch (I drove up hust to say "hello all") and there was Doug Polen, just hanging out!! I think that is sooo cool!! The California folkses just sort of think you see these guys all the time. I spent so much time in Washington, we never see any of those guys up there.
Zemke talked to me at WSB Miller this year, yea he talked, I freaked.....anyway he metioned RFR, I think he would like to ride here, just for fun of course.
So the question is..how do we convince these guys to come out and play?? If Jerome has contacted Doug Polen, can we contact a couple others? Zemke metioned Meguel (Duhammel) i cant spell his name, anyways it does not hurt to try. Zemke lives just over the hill in San Fransico area, Duhammel lives in Vegas I think.

It was actually pretty effective since its one way only, from Doug to the student. I think it helped. it wasn't a distraction.

Mladin lives in Henderson!
According to the schedule on his website, gopolen.com, Doug is scheduled to return for the SSA Sept 26 trackday. woohoo!
I also think we should have a little more ceremony about his appearance at the riders meeting. He's a WSBK/AMA/Endurance world champion after all.

Agreed.
Didn't Justin acknowledge hime at the riders meeting. I'll have a talk with him to make sure he does. >:(
Dustin thanks for all you do for us at SSA. Your the legend.
man i may just have to get in a class with MR. Polen..... my plans may change to make the SSA weekend.....
Tom. That's a pretty good opportunity for you to learn something from a World champion. If you can afford it. I don't think you would regret it at all.
What !! Is Polen going to be at the next track day??
Can you confirm that??
Or post a link to the website??
Ok so Mat, Zemke and Meguel...yes yes they all want to ride here ;)
Ok jerome, get them here!!! ok thats a tall order.
That's right. He was at last track day too.

I just signed up for this...but they said that if they dont get 5 more they might not come to RFR.
Ouch..
I dunno if I can spare 500 plus.
Is there any wiggle room on the track fee?
$410 + $110 track fee $510 total
I think that is really 520, but who is counting.
the track fee is $135 for those days just FYI.
Not sure if Jerome has a different price set for the Polen guys.
Ok well I can't afford to ride with Polen, but I have purchased a track day with SSA.
I sure hope he shows up and has a good time.
Looking forward to thrashing the Ducati one more time on the track...woo-hooo!!
Maybe Doug has some wiggle room.
Just a heads up for any of you taking or thinking of taking the Doug Polen school, we will give you a discount on your trackday. If you sign up with Doug, your trackday will only be $75.00. If you've already paid we will give you a refund. If you haven't paid, just email Jerome and let him know you have signed up with Doug and we will get you on the list and you can pay us at the track. 8)
^^ YEY!!!!!
I already paid for my TD on the 26th., and signed up for the class ;D., How do i get the refund? ::)
OH EM GEE!. This is a screaming deal! AAAHHH!!! Should I? Hmm....Ehhh....I'm racked in indecision here. So lets see, 410 for instruction + 270 - 75 = 605...ouch...
Wait a second.......... $135 a day... 2 days = $270 (with lunch both days and a *&%$ing t-shirt...) Mr. Polen sheduled for Saturday.?.= $410...
-------- $75(if in the 1on1)Sat.+Polen$410Sat.= $485 + Sunday SSA $135= $620. for the whole SHABBANG and you get a !@#*ing t-shirt.?.?.?
anyone.?.? yah.?.?

6 posts and you are already complaining? holy cow. Hey...go do Z2 where it's $180 a day and no t-shirt. But hey...if it's too rich for you...DON'T DO IT! ::)
Whatever I'm just make a funny cause it was $110 last month, I already have the T-shirt :o... But seriously its the $$$math ???I just want a straight answer about if i'm right or not... Hell yah I was planning on these T-days sence July, but to get instruction from one of my Heros would be the bomb so I would like to know for sure what it would $$$$$$???

If your getting Doug Polen's instruction (more info @ Gopolen.com) you get a break on the track fees.
The price would drop to $75 from $135.
I think this is the clubs way of trying to make professional instruction affordable for it's members.
This seems like a great example of the club working to help out it's members.
thank you to the executive board!
ps. my first SSA track days were $120.
I've payed 99/day (with a Saturday AND Sunday purchase)
I've also payed 160 dollars.

whiskytango....
This guy works very hard for us, so t-shirt or not we avoid hassling him.
23 roger out....
The question remains... is my math right? I'm asking for help...

If you were dead set on the trackdays anyway what does it matter? If you were going to get instruction anyway then it's a plus. Add the fact that this spontaneous discount is 75 bucks off then it becomes a tremendous deal. The SSA just gave you Doug Polen's instruction at 19% off. Granted, folks who already have the SSA tshirt do get slighted on the bundle deal but then again you get catered lunch...which is included in the bundle. I don't have a shirt but I pack my own lunch at all the trackdays... :-\
The math per your request
Trackday = $270 for both days
DP instruction = $410 for a day
SSA discount (when taking DP class) = -$75
$270
+
$410
-
$75
---------
=
$605 <-- considering that I'm unemployed, I will unfortunately have to miss out on this opportunity :'(
Josh,
I doubt that you'll get such an offer from the eels.
The price would drop to $75 from $135.(Tino)
In my math I have track fee as above. I posed the ??? Originally because two members Have subtracted $75. So I said wait a second...
Is my math right?
use my math.
Attention trackday shoppers:
Trackday price drop from $135 to $75 when you purchase Doug Polen's instruction.
This is a $60 dollar savings.

What what? So I was wrong then. My bad.
2 days + DP = $620 then.

Yes your math is right. If you take the Doug Polen School, your trackday will be $75 INSTEAD of $135. Would you like to borrow my c-c-calculator?? :P :D
Oh, and that deal is for everyone except YOU! You don't like the discount, you don't get it.
I'm kidding of course. Everyone just relax. :)

I did it. Laborday at Miler. I will do it again next year.
Last year at the AHRMA race, I was a lapper. This year, thanks to Doug, Brian, and Alberto, I got 4th place Saturday. 3rd place and in eye shot of the leaders Sunday.
Best $$ I ever spent on racing. I could have done 20 trackdays and not have got this fast.
If you think you cant find the cash, but want to be faster, and can spend cash on trackday, I say your a fool.
Photo time!

This is not really the topic to bring this up in, yet I am again. Trackdays have been getting smaller and smaller for a little while now at Fernley. The track is a bit bumpy but the price is right. SSA got the day from a track provider who got a T.H day instead(which is sold out or soon will be for all the right reasons). It will be hard for us to compete with. I forsee mostly a local turn out.
The good news is that the SSA guys are charging less for the same weekend. I have stopped going to all other track providers at Fernley becauce of a few bucks. Right now, Paying more is now what I had in mind either. I can refrain from saying more but on the bright side Polen might make if enough sign up.
Nice pictures above.

I have a spare helmet and leathers you can borrow if you need to Kaze Thirteen. Just let me know. We are about the same size. I do have quite the spaceship head though. :)
So, who took it, and what did you think?
did the 1on1 doug polen school again this weekend. knocked another 10 sec off my lap times (as slow as I am I have plenty to work with). well worth the $$$
How many in the school? Worth there time to come back again I hope/
