Does anyone plan on going on Our annual Weekend overnight to Hwy 1 This year. I need to make hotel reservations. Post up here please.

We will stay in Santa Rosa Ca. On Friday night. Start Hwy 1 on Saturday morning, with breakfast at Point Reyes Lighthouse cafe. Head up Hwy 1. Lunch at Ft. Bragg. Spend Saturday night in Fortuna Ca. Come home Sunday morning via Hwy 36 to I-5, down to Oraville to Hwy 162. We should be able to meet the Sunday ride crew there Around 2 p.m. And come home from there. Should be home around 6pm.

What time are you leaving Friday?

We can actually leave any time on Friday. It should only take us a few hours to get to Santa Rosa, Ca. I generally leave around noon (12). We get there and check into our room, then head out for a quick trip to Hwy 1. Come back for dinner they bed. I just want to make sure if anyone is still interested in going. I like to go to Hwy 1 at least once a year. So if anyone is interested in going still I'll go with you. I just need a head count for the hotel res.

Im torn between this and the track days for $99. I feel that I should go to the track to justify the money I spent on my track bike but this ride sounds like a lot of fun. I think Im going to the track. Im learning sooooo much there and having fun doing it. Hope you guys have a safe trip if you go. If not Ill see you at the track!!

Going to ride the Lost Coast highway (that I'm told does not exist). ;D

To me, it's a squiggly line on a map.  I like roads like that. ;D

Who else is going?  looks like it's just you and I.  Let me know what's up with the goat, I'm kind of worried, he was supposed to be here for your swim ride and give us a report of hwy 36.

Another epic trip, these coast rides are so fun.  Thanks for the good times and great company Chip, Jerome, and Greg.

Friday:
We met up at Dairy Queen, had lunch and left Reno around 1:45.  Boogied down I-80 in tight formation, and I mean tight formation, Jerome and I side by side with Chip right behind and between us.

From Davis we took Hwy 128 up by Lake Berryessa.  I made a wrong turn, instad of staying on 128, we got on 121 which brought us a little south to Napa.  Chip we looking pretty worried when he found out we didn't know "exactly" where we were.  No problem, we knew we had to head north and west and that's what we did, until we got to Santa Rosa.

Checked into our room, and then Oneup (Greg) picked us up and we went down and had a nice dinner at Chevy's.

I didn't take any pictures on Friday.

260 miles

Saturday:
Ah, the big day, the day we head out and enjoy the majestic coast on Hwy 1.  We went down to Mill Valley and got a drink at StarBucks.  We met this nice young lady from Sweden.  Jerome gave her an SSA business card, hopefully she'll see this:

We then get our first taste of Hwy 1, the fog was light and the road was dry, very nice condition in the morning.  We stopped at the usual spot in Point Reyes (I think) for breakfast.

We met this guy in the parking lot from Marshall.  That is seriously a small town, when we rode through, the sign said population 50.

Took a quick pick of the ocean where we decided to rest.  Not the most scenic place but it's all gorgeous along hwy 1.

As you can tell in the above pic, there was not much trees (cover) and the one little bush that was growing there had this sign  :-X  Guess what we did...  ::)

We then stopped in Fort Bragg for lunch and met these two guys from Canada.  They were quite the characters.  They've been traveling through the US, put in about 3,000 miles and were on their way home.  They had some good stories of their adventures down here in the states.  Look how small I am compared to that guy on my right:

So we make it to the spot where Hwy 1 turns into the mountains and leaves the coast.  You can see in this picture below where Hwy 1 turns right and leaves the coast behind:

We decide to take a couple of pics next to the coast since we didn't really stop much.
Here we all are taking a post next to our machines:

That cliff behind the bike is a sheer drop-off.  I was hoping an earthquake wouldn't happen while taking this pic:

Now on to the best section of road that Hwy 1 has to offer...If you guys have not been on Hwy 1 from the coast over the mountain range into Leggett, you've got to do it someday.  You'd wish it could go on forever and never stop.  Got to the other side and ate some berries that were growing on the side of the road, while Jerome went back to get more of Hwy 1.

We booked it up Hwy 101 to Eureka and called it a night, didn't even leave the Inn, we had pizza delivered to the room.

350 Miles

Sunday:
Well Sunday morning rolled around and this is our last day and we need to make it all the way back to Reno.  This is going to be the longest day of the ride.  We slept in a bit and left Eureka about 9 (if I remember correctly) and made our way straight to Hwy 36.  The first section of the Hwy is beautiful, we need to stop to soak in the environment and take some pictures:

Here is Chip, the "true" tree hugger, he wants to ban all dirt bikes to save the trees!  :P
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b269/Resistor0003/Motorcycle/Summer%202008/Coast%20Ride/08_10_08/DSC01731.jpg)

Here is Jerome kicking it back in the grove:

Here we are at the famous sign:

Gotta keep the sign clean, I think he put plexus on it!

We made it to the other end of Hwy 36 to Red Bluff with almost no traffic.  The conditions were great and the smoke was light, but it sure was hot as we descended down into the valley.  Jerome got gas halfway to Red Bluff to make sure we don't repeat the same incident of last year.

We spent about 30mins driving around Red Bluff looking for a good place to eat.  After talking to people for directions we finally find the dinner.  At last, we're ready for some good eating.  It was hot, so Jerome wanted and ice cream, they were out.  So we asked what kind of pies they had, they were out.  So Jerome wanted to get a Root Beer, they were out.  He had to settle for a Pepsi.  He wanted a straw, they were out.  We needed some napkins, they were out.  I ordered a mushroom burger, they were out of mushrooms.  As you can tell, we're never going back to that place again.

We took Hwy 162 back, sorry we missed you BigCat, I didn't check the voice mail.  We ended up rolling by the lake after you called us.  162 is so nice now that they have it completed.

Can't wait for next years Coast Ride.

Miles 400
