Anyone been over Yuba...condition?

Spotty sand in all the wrong places, but seemed to be big enough to be visible.  People were saying I was kicking up a lot, so it's dirtier than it looks, but mostly near the summit on both sides.
It's about taking in the most corners to your destination, not about the shortest, quickest route.

I watched yesterday's SBK race and decided against watching a run-away in person.  Went to Downieville and ran into Wills.  Caltrans has hwy 49 torn into gravel for about four miles east of town and they have the summit marked 'construction 25 miles' going westbound.  The construction was for falling rock removal, which somehow translates into that muddy silty look to the road.  Taking it easy and enjoying the ride is definitely the right choice until some rains come and rinse the roadways up there.

Unrelated too, there were a lot of fallen rocks in the roadway, some large 30 pounders.  Keep an eye out for them.  The one large one would have ended anyone's day with a total and hospital visit.
