Yesterday around 3 Jose was struck by a motorist in an intersection near Vista in sparks.
Its not clear who is at fault but Jose was taken by Ambulance to Renown.
I went to the hospital yesterday. Jose is in stable condition but is pretty beat up. He suffered 2 broken arms, Numerous cracked ribs, and a collapsed lung along with some road rash. He had his first surgery yesterday and is going in for his second this morning.
Jose is ok but unfortuntly his GSXR didnt make it.
I just wanted to let everyone know he is ok if you hear about this. He was lucky. From the looks of the bike it could have been WAY worse. The only thing that even looks salvagable in the pictures were the rear rim and motor.

Ouch!!!! Wow! I can't believe it happened to him. I know it can happen to any of us at any time. Dammm. Hope you get better soon Jose. Is he still in at Renown? Can we go and see him?
jose seems to be progressing real well, the surgery on his wrists went well, then the surgery to close up his abdomen went well, and now today he is breathing on his own! they took him off the life support. what a strong guy! keep up the good work and lets push for a speedy recovery!

We need to have a discussion about what "OK" means. That statement followed by "unfortunately the gsxr didn't make it" led me down a totally innapropriate road.
If it's ever this serious, we MUST have a better system of communicating information so we can be appropriately supportive.

Someone needs to go by the hallmark store, buy a big card and drop it off at La Vecchias. We can all slip in throughout the next week and get that thing signed. Unfortunately I have the frickin' Swine Flu and can't initiate this. Alberto is OK with it.
I don't think being on life support puts you in the "ok" category :o
sometimes intubation is used outside of life support.
ie. when they induce a coma in order to do brain surgery or to stop seizure activity the induced coma slows the brain and slows the blood supply (a little) which reduces swelling.
Technically, it still is life support, but what I mean is that you COULD be breathing on your own, but the Doc doesn't want you to.

Last Saturday I stopped by at "car wash" event organized for the Street Kings Club to collect money for Jose and I collaborated with a few bucks…
I know him he’s a very good guy.
Note: I did not have my 1989 Jeep Comanche washed ;D . I went there just to help him.

OK EVERYONE, HERES THE LATEST UPDATE....JOSE IS OUT OF I.C.U. AND DOING REALLY WELL. THE DOCTORS MIGHT LET HIM GO HOME THIS WEEKEND... HE HAS A REGULAR ROOM, #408 IF YOU WANT TO VISIT.. THE TAHOE TOWER, FOURTH FLOOR... I WILL BE GOING THE TOMMORROW (SATURDAY) AROUND NOONISH IF YOU WANT TO SHOW UP WITH ME, JUST PM ME OR TEXT...

Apparently, he is to be discharged tomorrow.
Edmunsan, I know that they had a couple fundraisers (after the fact) and I'm not sure how to contribute. Jose is a member of Street Kings and I'm not really sure of his situation.
