Justino you were right the first time 3 types  ;)
God Bless a country where we can all have our opinions, and all be right at the same time.

Well, until Mau Bama runs wild with his communism plans anyway.  ::)

It's his wife that really scares me

jlavallee

I knew I liked you.

I'm terrified of all of them. Pelosi, Reed, Emanuel, Biden and Obama are a bloody scary combination. Just imagine if we had lost the ability to filibuster? It's like reading Karl Marx coming to life. :'(

Maybe it's because I'm from Canada but the distance from socialistic views is what allowed the US to become great. Abandoning or "updating" the constitition is leading in the wrong direction. The founding fathers knew of the problems of big government and that's why they did what they did. People here don't realise how good they have it so they seem to be willing to piss it away on being trendy.

Anyway, it's about riding not politics so I'll stop the rant now. Good lord please let him be a lot better than I expect!

Definition of socialism:" Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society."

Just because a bunch of idiots (Limbaugh and the like) on the radio call it comunism or socialism does'nt make it so.

Also I heard no one advocating that ???

What's so great about two ongoing wars and the worst economy since the depression???? Big government? How about almost half million more federal workers in the not-so-new anymore homeland security department and intelligence comunity. Our government is never been as big and as expensive as right now; that is a fact! What allowed USA to become a great place to live was the opportunity everybody had to better their lives by working hard and that my friend is no longer the case..... If you think is good for everybody here sre some figures from the Labor Department:"Nonfarm payroll employment fell by 240,000 in October. Job losses over the last 3 months totaled 651,000. In October, the unemployment rate rose from 6.1 to 6.5 percent, and the number of unemployed persons increased to 10.1 million." I am a business owner (usuaully quite conservative) and because of all the waste and de-regulation of the last 8 years, I realised we could not afford more of the same (no matter what the other guy said) and hope for change. What I am terrified of is a government that take away our liberty and spy on us without oversight and illegally. (that's what Russia did/does and how the Chinese get rid of dissent).

I would have voted for a monkey if it was the only way to get the status quo changed ;D

Alberto, I feel your pain because what was in office the past 8 years was anything but a true conservative. Fustration I can understand as what we had was a bible conservative as opposed to an economic one. With any luck this will wake up the republican party and it will get back to basics. Do I really give a damn if two guys want to marry? As long as my ass dosen't get pinched I couldn't care less. They need to worry about economics not the other BS.

Your defination of socialism "advocating state or collective ownership" is exactly what is going on. These buy outs, tax "rebates" to people who don't pay tax, what will be a lame attempt at social health care are all things done in a socialist society. If people can't get ahead your productive will either reduce efforts or move elsewhere. It is a crazy cycle. Listen to what Obama says, it is Karl Marx on the spot. That shit has never worked nor will it ever.

I travel all over and I see first hand what happens in industry. The US people are dreaming if they honestly believe in the government control model working. Hilliary and Obama want to tax big oil because they make too much money. Ooooh, evil oil companies. But yet, I don't hear anyone bitching that Brad Pitt making 30 million for a movie is unfair. Most folks probably have an energy stock in their 401k so they get some benefit from the profits. I don't see Brad Pitt or Oprah paying any dividends.

I fear they will do a lot of damage to mining and energy production in the name of reducing our "carbon footprint" but if you look at the numbers, the population boom of earth is doing far more damage at the moment. Even Clinton wouldn't ratify Kyoto because of the ecnomic damage it would cause with minimal benefit. If you research the UNFCCC you'll find that the majority of their plans are total bullshit.

I heard the wonderful Canadian health care system referenced a lot and had to laugh. The Dems don't have a clue because the taxes in Canada are f-ing retarded and our system is garbage. If you're old and have an RRSP (Cdn equiv of a 401k) then your funds are taken to pay for meds. If you're a waste of life who has always been on welfare then you get them free. My grandfather waited on a list for a bypass for over 4 years and when he asked if he could fly stateside and have it done he was told if he did that they would not conduct follow up treatment so he waited. He had his surgury and was told that the damage was 70% by the time they did it, he died 6 months later. Another example is a great aunt who waited 9 years for hip replacement then spent a year doing rehab. She was 73 when she died and lost years 61-71 basically sitting around in pain. Then there are the numerious examples of some welfare case getting priority on a transfer case because of age and a productive member of society getting screwed.

My major concerns on Obama are wealth redistribution, gun rights, corporate tax hikes, stagnant development of resources.

I'm all for change from Bush but I fear that people are so hungry for "change" that they've voted the devil in.

Either way, he is going to be the president so we'll find out. All I know is that I moved from Canada to avoid the libs and now the US has elected a congress, VP and President that are about as far left as it goes. Never in a million years would I have thought it possible.

Under this president I believe you'll see a return of a form of the Fairness Doctrine which messes with your 1st amendment rights, BS gun rules meant to screw with the 2nd and a return to forced government work which, in my opinion is against the 13th. Yes, as far as I am concerned his idea of manditory community service is slavery.

Holy crap!! I've been trying to tell everyone this and they just don't seem to get it!! I agree completely with this though. Nothing we can do now except wait to see how bad America will let this get. Where is common sense in politics?

They won't advocate that even if it is what they had in mind because they know they would loose more votes. You won't hear a politician say "I want to incorporate socialist views" even though that is what they believe in and want to bring into our country.

And the the biggest cause for our economic downfall that we allowed people who couldn't afford houses home loans anyway because of a bill that was passed called the fair housing act. Do you know who passed that bill? Mr. Clinton. Just because we are feeling the effects now doesn't mean it was caused by Bush.

As for the war, like it or not, we pull out now, all those deaths were for nothing. It's too late to back out now. Nobody likes to see young men and women die. This is something that has gone on since the beginning of time and will continue in the future. Unfortunately it is a necessary evil, if you will. I wish we could just solve problems without war, but  it doesn't work that way.

I realize politics is a hairy subject with people. But you saying we can't believe what "idiots" on the radios/tv say goes both ways. There are a lot of people pushing their agendas to the public through the media. And from what I see in the media, the majority of it is liberal. So who's side do you think they are on?

It terrifies you more than someone hijacking airplanes and flying them into occupied buildings and land marks?

QuoteI would have voted for a monkey if it was the only way to get the status quo changed ;D

That right there is the problem. Everyone has their own interpretation of "change". People don't see that this "change" could make things worse. And I think that is why Obama won. Because he sold so many people on the theory that it is Bush's fault for the economy woes and his ideas will bring us back. I hope he can do it, but I can't say I'm not worried. Even politicians say it is not good to have the major majority of Congress and the President on the same side of the isle.

If you want political rants, go to BARF or SBR. The only mudslinging that should go on here should be the off road bike kind :)

A healty discussion about politics and our country is a good thing either way. The solution, I am sure is a combination of ideology but ultimately the little guy is who needs taking care of, not the execs and mutlimillionaire CEO which the GOP seem to be slanted toward.

PS I get to decide to go see Brad Pitt etc. I don't choose to use gas or not I must....

Hey, I'm for it. Too many people "tip toe in the tulips" ;) when it comes to talking about politics. I believe in constructive discussion when it comes to politics. If you can't talk about it and debate with friends, then who the hell can you talk about it with? As long as nobody is trying to force feed a bunch of b.s. down peoples throats then I think it's a good thing....I don't know, maybe I'm just being naive.

jlavallee

Yeah, it is definately a combination of ideology needed. I'm actually for socializing health care but it must be run right and not another excuse to punish the working. If you can't make it work with no long wait times and BS then you can't do it at all. That is why I prefer the current system at the moment.

The government is there to provide basic infrastructure such as roads, law enforcement and a military to protect us. I have no problem with any legal citizen being given the funds from the collective necessary for the basics of Maslov's hierarchy of needs. No a single mom doesn't get a free ride because she spread her legs but we shouldn't starve her either.

If you really look at the constitution it would favor a flat tax rate. I'd love that even though it would cost me more because at least I'm not being screwed and having incentive taken away as I become more successful.

The arguement could be made that the really rich should pay a decreased rate because they use the same basic infrastructure as the rest but pay for a lot more of it.

I heard talk of the "little guy" all during the campaign and the fact is the little guy will hurt more as big business is strangled. Hell, go to Mexico and it's little USA with all the manufacturing there because of the high rates of tax and labor. Sure you don't have to see Brad Pitt but to be honest, you don't have to buy gas either. We all walked 100 years ago. Anyway, the point wasn't about that, it was a point on how quick the libs point fingers. Why is one business (making movies) not taxed extra when the other (producing energy) is? That's a slippery slope.

The CEO should be able to make what ever he is worth. The issue is on the company needing to holding him to performance standards. If I am a CEO and I work 80hr weeks in the office and make decisions responsible for my company making 100 million in profits then how is that different from Pitt headlining and the movie making 100 million in profits on name draw. Why are my efforts worth less than his?

Instead of regulating and screwing business how about we just throw the law breakers like the Enron guys in federal assf*ck prison? The honest CEO should be able to earn what ever the free market values his time at. A company has to answer to it's shareholders if they make a bad deal.

Yes, the divide between the wealthy and average is growing for sure but more government control just takes the middle class and poor and makes them all the same. Poor and dependant on government.

Americans have always held "Life, liberty and the pursuit of hapiness" in high regard. It was never "Life, liberty and the guarantee of hapiness" nor will it ever be, I hope.

You work hard and do your best and you have a good shot at getting ahead.

Finally, I'd like to mention Obama's master plan to make college affordable. No good student loan programs that forgive once you start paying taxes or anything... Let's just make it basically free for community college! Do you have any idea how many people I went to university with who were on a mommy/daddy ride so it was a joke because it had no cost to them? Or how many people got arts degrees so they could be educated and wait tables? When I finished I had over 50k in loans but didn't qualify for a grant because engineers had a high hiring rate and the ability to pay it back. My old roomie did a joke of a degree in history with no classes until at least 11am every day. He spent his time boozing and got approved for a $27k grant because there were no jobs with a bachelors in history. Doing this shit hurts the hard worker and rewards slackers. Don't you think I'd rather have done an arts program with lots of cute girls and minimal work?

Socialism is just a hippie ideal. It sounds great until reality sets in. If you can't affect the outcome with your actions then why play the game?

The little guy does not need to be taken care of. Just make sure that everyone has the same opportunities. If you're one of Obama's people who don't pay taxes and are now going to get a "rebate" check I say you get off your ass and do something. I was in Elko, NV the other week and a guy was begging and said he was homeless. There are so many jobs in Elko that you could have the IQ of a grape and get a job with enough to live on easily. I've worked all over and moved for work many times. If you can't find a job, get off your ass and go get one. All their plans will do is haul the middle class down to the poor's level by killing incentive.

Wow, this really helped kill a slow day.

BTW, nothing but love for you Alberto. :-*
