It's here. The formal announcement of our season opening track weekend at Reno Fernley Race Track

The Executive Board is really excited about the recent progress with the track management as we finish ironing small details.
I am incredibly excited to head out with you guys and fun.
If you've never been on a track before, we have a really non-intimidating approach perfect for newcomers.
The PayPal link will be up shortly.
$125/day if purchased before May 12th.
$140/day May 12th to 16th
$160/day May 17 or later.
There will be a $10 overnight fee for any equipment left or people camping at the track. (to help cover the extra security costs)

we are in.
question, my wife wants to do her first trackday. are the instructors against having ninja 250s on the track in the c group or is that ok. i've been to some tracks where the closing speed differences in the c group either forbade them or required instructors flank the riders front and rear to buffer them from the other c group riders.
is there a classroom session for the c group riders?
Thanks.

We've always had C group meetings throughout the morning and 250's are permitted. That track is not only very long, but also very wide. We also limit the number of riders in each session and move people up to B's when warranted. Our's is a very 'C' friendly experience. Youngster775's wife (RenoRocket) and 17yr old daughter both have had trackdays with us on their ninjettes. Can she reach out to them to talk about their experience? Send a PM to youngster775, he's online daily.
Chris M, P.M. sent, you've got mail! :o

If not at RFR when is the next SSA T-Day?

Another SCR'er here. I am bringing the DRZ SM for another great time at RFR. I am setup for just about any practice day but I am helping another setup his Supermoto for track. Do you any special SM specific requirements?
Also, I recently became addicted to Oreo's and gained 15 pnds just last week! Is there going to a suspension tech there? What about tires? Haven't seen any info on this and just wanted to make sure since I haven't done a track day with SSA before.
Is there camping on Friday too?
Thanks guys!
several great questions. SPL, our tire service provider and 4theriders.com (photography) have confirmed and 'lunch truck' will be trackside.
There are no specific requirements for your SM,(letting me borrow it for a lap is optional)
This year there are charges for security.
Camping is available Saturday only for a $10 fee. It's rather bare-bones camping. There track is providing sani-huts and a hand-wash station, but no water or power after 6pm

Hey WebrraAAP. As for camping on Friday, the answer is unfortunately no. You can camp Saturday but there is a $10 camping fee. This year at RFR there is new track management and the rules have changed a bit. If your coming Friday night, I would suggest just camping outside the gate/entrance and just come in in the morning when they open the gates. Also, there should be tire services there, but not suspension service. In the meantime, try to take it easy on the Oreos, ok. Glad you found us. :)
So tire services are for sure? I had posted no tire service on the SCR board based off of Justino's reply. I just want to make sure before I post it back to avoid any more confusion.
Quote from: Gangplank on May 05, 2010, 02:18:06 PM
Sorry for the confusion & late reply. Just wanted to confirm there would be tire serivce at the trackday on the 22nd & 23rd.
WE WILL HAVE A SHOP AT THE TRACK WITH SOME TIRES AVAIL FOR SALE that weekend.
2 Wheel Custom Performance (aka 2wcp here on the board) will be there with some tires, mounting and balancing available. Steve is a good guy and does work for many member's bikes.
Good stuff. I don't think my rear will last through Saturday, so I'll need to get my other one mounted.
Correct that is C, ran in a counter clockwise direction...
Hey guys just letting everyone know and confirming we will be at the track day. So tires, suspension adjustments and dynos will be available if needed.
Sweet!! Thanks guys
Is the pay-pal not working, or am I just that slow?
Check the 3 boxs on the bottom left first.
Thanks, apparently I'm that slow. Just paid for 2 of us. I'll need to pay the additional $10.00 for staying in the paddock when I check in on Sunday. I couldn't change the amount. We will be coming in Sat. night when we get off of work.
Again thanks looking forward to it.

If you want to pay ahead of time you could simply add that portion to your cart only, and pay just for that. just FYI.

Maybe you could get some grid training from the other more experienced guys on Sunday.
Lives depend on that job. Come out and say ''Hello" and take your bike for a ride during 'Try the Track'
hopefully, you will taste nothing.
Looks like I will show up on sunday for a little bit. I know i mentioned this in another thread but it got kinda buried somewhere. Anyways i'll be there to hang out a bit, and i will bring my lap timer transmitter unless someone else has one that they are bringing. Just wish i was riding that weekend :(

Last night I changed the oil
Drained and replaced the Water Wetter/H20
(I don't believe the WW changes the ability of water to cool, but maybe there is some corrosion and lubrication quality)
Safety wired the oil filler cap, drain plug and filter.
(Safety wire and water wetter are not required, but i do it as a safety precaution)
I am really looking forward to riding with all of you.

That's all it does. Changes the specific gravity by a smidge, adds some lubricant for your water pump, and some anti-corrosion so the water doesn't scale up and rust your radiator (you should be using distilled water too).
i always use distilled h20
I prefer distilled ETOH but not in my bike ;D
cant wait just a week from today! thanks again to justino and 2wcp!
I always use distilled with "Water Wetter"

I doubt it's ability to cool better than water.
Anti-corrosion and lubrication are the reasons I use it.
There is no proof that it cools better, and their label falsely advertises it's benefits.
It's cheap enough to use and I think it's worth $9 a bottle for the lubraction.
Water Wetter and Astro-Glide are both great lubricants worth $9

Does anybody have some extra space on their trailer to tow my bike?! I am afraid it will be too cold and rainy to ride there!!!
It's too tiring to ride there and ride at the track and ride home. I've done it to and from truckee a once.

Saturday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level rising to 5500 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54.
Saturday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

I've been hearing 70% chance of no rain. That's what I want to hear. But please dress warm. And bring your Pop ups. just in case it rains a little. Don't forget to bring some buckets to fill with water to hold those things on the ground.
Lance Keigwins in his website says:
"Keep in mind that car clubs run regardless of the weather. And we certainly don't want to tracks giving preference to cars over bikes, which would affect the number and quality of our reserved dates. But try to see the bright side: a wet track encourages much better riding and forces us to think about being smooth and act accordingly. An interesting statistic is that we get fewer spills on a wet day than in the dry. Really!"
So, for sure we'll have a lot of fun!!!
Thanks for the reminder rick.

Had an awesome time yesterday. Bike took a beating from the gravel. Hoot was the worst. I'll mention it to Danny. Seems like either they didn't prep it at all, or not enough. Dust/sand is unavoidable, but rocks grinding between my tire and fender!?!?! Not pissed, happy to have the track open, just wondering if we can improve on this.
it was debris and rubble coming off the rear tires, They blew the track in the eve friday and again 530 am saturday. not sure what went wrong with prep.

Hey guys! GREAT F-ing job this weekend! All of us over at SCR were damn impressed with the organization of this event. Rick Tahoe, great job managing the grid bro. We all appreciate the early warnings when it's time to ride take off the down parka and don the leathers, lol. We will definitely see you all at RFR again!
Sunday was my birthday and I can't think of a better way to spend it than hanging out with friends at the track and making new friends, so THANK YOU!
All of your peeps are cool as hell too! We spoke to Jerome a bit about hooking up with you all on some rides in the future.
Justin, I had a blast ripping with you near the end of the day. Thanks for going easy on me, lol.
Thanks again!

This was THE best track day experience I've had to date! Thank you thank you so much to everyone at SSA for putting this together. It was a pleasure to finally meet Justino (how's your collar??) and Jerome (send me info on that tailbag!). I've ridden RFR many times before but this was my first time with my new bike. Started with a rusty first session but after that it was all uphill. ^_^ Found myself getting faster and more confident as the day progressed. I thought 77mph on the front straight was fast but by the end of the day I got up to about 120mph! Didn't have any OH SHIT moments...maybe a few OH moments...but that was it.
I'd like to say hi to Paul and John (wave) and Paige! She was the gal in the blue 250. Hope to see you again in future track days! I really appreciated how everyone was friendly and supportive. It was chilly but after doing a couple of sessions it warmed up. The snow made it all that more special!
I'm very excited to come ride with you guys again so plan on seeing a bunch of us SCR peeps throughout this season! See ya soon and thank you again!

Just want to add my thanks, admiration and appreciation for a job incredibly well done by SSA. Outstanding effort FROM THE GRID, TO THE INSTRUCTORS TO THE ORGANIZATION ITSELF. Kudos to all of you. Jerome, you ROCK!!! What a great group of guys at RFR. Our Davis group was definitely happy and all smiles from the weekend. An awesome track day and even Mother Nature seemed to have fun with it. Can't wait to come back with a few more of our riders next time. Thanks for keeping RFR alive and kicking....up rocks, haha. ;D
Just so there is no misconception, the trackday was plan and run by Myron (ZipByU), Luke (Putz) and his wife, Greg (Oneup), Justino, Youngster775 and a few others on the Trackday committee and promotions comittee. Wow we are off track...
we need some K walls in this thread :)
K walls sound dangerous, lets use tire walls, I think we have enough of those...
Did you make a left or a right at 24, cause that could explain alot...
I just wanted to stop by to say thank you to everyone involved in setting up this awesome track day. Getting there was quite an undertaking (snow added three hours to my drive) but it was totally worth it. Thanks to Brian at SPL for setting the sag on my RC51 and to Justin for taking her for a few laps and giving me good feedback.
I had a blast hanging out with old friends and made a few new ones too. Hope to hook up with you cats again soon.

Well we want to thank YOU, for braving the snow to make it out here. We know what a pain it can be when mother nature puts up road blocks. We greatly enjoyed having the Sac crew up here to ride with us. We enjoy meeting new people and mixing it up on the track with them. We hope to see you and all of the Sac guy and girls up here again. The weather can only get better from here!!
