I was messing around with a bmw on 395 south a mile or so before delmonte ranch on the straight.   With nothing visible on the shoulders and I am past the on ramp, he is hauling ass and i never pass his door and I am  thinking I better slow down he keeps on.  I see him again and no big deal we are in the  turn lane to go to vc.  Moving along to go up i get stopped just before 7 11 and the motorcycle cop says he was radioed by his Sargent and i was clocked at over a hundred and now we are waiting for him.  I asked where he was  and the cop says his seargent  was going north on 395 and radared me while moving, Is that possible? probably.  Anyhow reckless ticket at 112 mph and told me i was lucky i was not going to jail.

stupid of me to be going that fast on freeway                 big mistake :(

I assume you were on a motorcycle. I assume the BMW was a car and I assume it was not stopped. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down and motorcycles stick out.

Did the person who witnessed it show up to cite you? He may not need to, but he will have to show up to court. You have a right to confront your accuser and the motorcycle cop is just the arresting officer, not the witness. You'll need a lawyer for reckless.

Also: that was almost tragically stupid.

As far as I am aware, that is possible, the radar unit is wired in to know the vehicle speed and it makes a adjusted reading. That really sucks, I have gotten a reckless once... it was 6 points and like $450 dollars.

YEP, BAD MOVE... I'VE DONE IT TOO... actually it was me and my friend and I still only had my permit, I was doing 186 (although speedo is off at that speed) and my friend was doing 150+, anyways he pulled over, I did not... so he took the ticket. I went to court with him to pay half. heres the TRICK.... listen carefully, this is true, recent, and accurate... when the judge calls your name you plead NOT GUILTY, then they send you (the same day, right then) out to another room to see a D.A. that guy can and will change the price and the points... we claimed that we were bieng stupid, egged on by another bike, and were broke... anyways, instead of it bieng over $500.. and 6 points, it was dropped to $150.00 and two points... since, my wife got a ticket in the car and we did the same thing... as long as they get some money, theyre happy... just a bartering game....

Yeah it is possible to get your speed while they are traveling in the other direction. I got a ticket in a truck from an NHP going the other way. Their radar works while moving and can read from the front and back of their vehicle. I respectfully asked the officer that when he had me pulled over and he explained it to me. Pretty cool radar device they have.

Every once in a while the internal speed demons win and we make bad moves. Unfortunately you got caught. Luckily you did not crash. Good luck on the outcome.  :)

yeah, the d.a. played hard guy for a minuate, and we let him... I just dont know what I can reduce this to... looking thru his book.... then it came out that he got it to 11 miles over posted speed limit....

I hate when they give you the speach, it's not like everyone hasn't had a moment of bad judgment. I had an "imprudent driving" ticket for doing a wheelie that an off duty cop saw back when I was about 20 in Crapada. At the time I just decided to man up and pay the $600 fine. Well, I don't know how reckless works here but in Canada that ticket went on my record for FIVE years and the insurance surcharge was the same as if I had a DUI so all through college I was being bled an extra 75%.

Before you agree to anything, check what will happen to your insurance. That single event probably cost me 5 grand and I still steam over it 15 years later. The ticket is a one time thing, the insurance can go on and on.

Hopefully it is not like that here but up north it is liberal, socialist BS all the time. Fight what you can, try to get it down to a regular ticket.

they do have to prove BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT and that is not that easy to do, keep fighting and keep us posted
