Gps or infrared lap timers?

I'm shopping for a timer. Anyone have any pros or cons to share with me? I really like the shiny starlane davinci dash but about $1000 more than I want to spend.

Just get the Mini-Lap or the Ultra-Lap if you want to pay for the extra features.  They are the standard.  You don't have to worry about the transmitter, there will almost always be one at every trackday.
