What is Hwy 26 and is anyone planning on trying to ride sunday?
hwy 26 is in canada according to google :-\ but i would still like to ride. keep us posted
dr1150 and I are riding to Thunderhill and back subday (see post)
I can't go out of town that far, sorry cobra23. Maybe Hwy 28 around Tahoe was meant?
nope, not 28
Looks like 26 connects to 88 down in the valley. I have no idea, so I think it's Downeyville for me.
Yeah, I think the Hwy 26 ride is actually the Jackson (http://www.sierrasportbike.com/Maps/Jackson.jpg), CA loop ride, 88 to 26. It doesn't sound like anyone is leading that ride. With a break in the showers possible tomorrow, I may be up for a nice long ride. I may do this other one (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=10190+N+Mccarran+Blvd+%23+A,+Reno,+NV%E2%80%8E&daddr=sierraville,+ca+to:quincy,+ca+to:berry+creek,+ca+to:39.552117,-121.429739+to:1797+Oro+Dam+Blvd+E,+Oroville,+CA+to:555+Oro+Dam+Blvd+E,+Oroville,+CA+to:bryant+ravine+rd,+feather+falls,+ca+to:forbestown+rd,+forbestown,+ca+to:oregon+house,+ca+to:Marysville+Rd+to:downieville,+ca+to:sierraville,+ca+to:10190+N+Mccarran+Blvd+%23+A,+Reno,+NV%E2%80%8E&geocode=%3B%3B%3B%3BFXWEWwIdFSHD-A%3B%3B%3B%3B%3B%3BFUEYWQIdaoHH-A%3B%3B%3B&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=39.643768,-120.706787&sspn=1.503686,2.471924&ie=UTF8&ll=39.643768,-120.715027&spn=1.503686,2.471924&t=h&z=9) if I can get an early enough start. It's a full day duathlon: ride, hike, ride. The hike is to the 645' Feather Falls by Lake Oroville. Never been there, nor past Bucks Lake. Taking the camera for sure.
Wills, what time are you planning on departing for Downieville?
I am thinking of leaving about 10:00 AM. If you guys want a longer ride, we could head down 49 and then cross over to LaPorte. Otherwise I was just going to Downeyville and back. I got to sneak in a dry ride to VC today, just missed the rain. What happened, did we all move to Seattle or something...freaky weather!
Funny you ask.....us FOGs (Fast old guys) were there just yesterday. Great liitle road that takes off from 49 just south of Jackson and ends up connecting with 88. We did Ebeetts, 49, 26 and then on home via 88. All those roads are CLEAR of runoff and other debris and ready to be ridden!
Oh man O live, I should grow up someday.....NOT....an R1 (matte black finish) and R6 with passenger tried to invade my territory on 88, up top, where all those sweet high speed sweepers are. It's been ages since I have had such an opportunity, the setting, the timing, everything was just right. Almost no traffic on Friday. Well, I think they both gained a little more respect for the big ugly and heavy "Gen II" busa (195hp at the crank)! You know that long downward stretch of 88 just before you get to the intersection of 88/89? Enough said! I'm almost ashamed of myself!! ;)
Wills, I'm in. Where's the start join up? I may continue to Marysville or LaPorte afterwards, depending on the weather.
I might be up for a "short" ride to Downieville...

How about Starbucks on west McCaran by 80, 10:00 AM?
normal meeting place... sounds good.
Hey just a heads up if u guys are riding to downiville, rode 89 to sierraville to sierra city as far as I could with a buddy before the rain made us turn back. Encountered around 5 cops on 89. Maybe you guys will have better luck. Have fun on the ride.
Thx for the heads up. What are the speed limits on 89 & 49? I see the clouds already stacking up over in Verdi. Oh brother!!
Well I was there at Starbucks... where was everyone? I broke my key off in my gas tank at 7-11. My day was over... I got a ride home, got my truck, picked up my bike. Took the ignition switch out and got the key code. I will have new keys made tomorrow.
Putz. Sorry man, Wills and I were there along with a Harley guy we thought was joining us. We waited at the normal *$ parking lot location, but when nobody else showed we headed out. We saw another Gixxr 1000 there gassing up, but he was on his own schedule by the looks of things. Had you not broke your key, you would have easily caught us; we drove slower than even ADragon leads groups.
Wills. Great riding with you today. Wish I would have remembered the camera. I could have snapped off some action shots. LaPorte was awesome!! Oregon Hill road bites, but the rest was pure fun. Your pace was just right, not too fast, not too slow. 8)
Yeah I saw the GSXR guy, he was gassing up as my wife and I were walking over to IHOP to wait for my friend to come pick us up. He gassed up and then rode to a parking spot and started getting stuff out of his bike. I never heard you guys pull in though or I would have walked back over to Starbucks. There was someone there on a CBR1000 that left just before you guys came in. Oh well... next time.
That was Wills' CBR1000RR. I recognized him because of his Avatar. Nice mature rider.
You must have arrived before I showed up, along with the Harley guy. Shortly after 10AM, the Gixxer guy pulled in behind us when we left and rode with us to Truckee. I last saw him cleaning bugs off his helmet in Sattley, CA.
Sorry we missed you. It's always more fun with more riders.
